School of Pharmacy Teaching Assistant Positions Available 2013

Teaching Assistant Positions Available:


General Examination and Laboratory Support:  Pharmacy Skills and Pharmacy Practice(Pharmacy 2650, 2101, 3560, 4650, 5150)

2 (two) Graduate Teaching Assistants to hold a half TA position in the Fall semester

The majority of exams and labs will take place during the Pharmacy Skills courses in the professional practice laboratory. The exam/lab support is usually required for ~6-7 hours a day, and may occur during any day of the school week.

In coordination with the course coordinators, the successful applicants will be responsible for support in the following courses: Pharmacy 2650, Pharmacy 2101, Pharmacy 3650, Pharmacy 4650 and Pharmacy 5150. Duties include: Exam and lab invigilation/ supervision, supervising students that are sequestered during exams/labs, helping with exam/lab set-up (i.e. ~30 minutes prior to start time), coordinating the flow of students during exams/labs (e.g. controlling timers and buzzers), helping with collecting exams/papers, exam/lab clean-up (eg. replacing products/books in the lab), and other duties as required.


Hours:  28 hours for each Graduate Teaching Assistant

Duration:  Fall 2013

Teaching Qualifications:


The successful applicant should be able to work independently, require minimal instruction and be reliable (i.e. showing up on time for all scheduled sessions). Previous experience or familiarization with Pharmacy Skills courses is an asset.

As per Clause 12.6 of the Collective Agreement between MUN and the TAUMUN, the TAship applicants should have the following qualifications:

1.Master’s students must normally be within the first 12 program months of a one year program,

2.Master’s students must normally be within the first 24 program-months of a two year program,

3.Doctoral students must normally be within the first 48 program months of the program,

Rate of Pay:  The remuneration for these duties is $21.15 per hour
